On the Road Again....

My, my, that vacation was way too short. Last night in South Carolina, sitting on the deck in my t-shirt, watching the sun go down. Barefoot. I can't believe I'm actually going to drive back to Vermont and back to the snow and cold.

Mom and I went for a walk today. Visited with her horses, the goats and the chickens. Just spent a day at leisure before I head north. Sigh. I wish I could just have someone bring my boys down and I wouldn't go home for another two months.

It's quiet, peaceful and WARM!

I'll be back in Vermont on Sunday evening, in time to have the bills to the office for the Monday morning deadline. My new boss is supposed to start next week. I'll still be on the schedule for a few extra hours until she gets in the swing of things. That's ok. Need to pay for hay and start saving up for the summer hay season.

For all of you that read this up North, I do miss you and am thinking about you. Wishing you all were down here instead of up there. It's so beautiful and the green grass almost needs mowing down here. I think, if I asked, there might be a few that would volunteer for that job.

Time to get home to my girls, my hubby and all my critters. I have missed them. Not sure how much they have missed me, as I haven't heard from the humans in days. Sure that if something were wrong with the four-legged ones I would get a phone call.

So, (start the theme music here) on the road again, I just can't wait to get on the road again.....

See you in Vermont. Sigh. Bummer.

I'm Not Missing it!

AAAAAHHHHHH! What a wonderful day! I'm sitting on the front porch of the house in South Carolina this morning, drinking my coffee in my pajamas, watching the birds and the dog play on the front lawn in the balmy temperature of 55 degrees!!! I'm not missing the snow, the wind, the cold, the icy rain. Not at all! Eeekk. Guess I should have shaved. Oh, well, don't want to eradicate the thermal properties of leg hair!

When I left Vermont Saturday morning, it was 5 degrees at 10 am and it was cold. I left with three layers on. Long johns, undershirt, sweat shirt, the whole nine yards. By the time my trip was done on Saturday, I had completely driven out of ALL the snow and was in Marion, PA at my cousins house, just in time for steak, baked potato and Caesar salad. Couldn't have timed it better if I tried. The first thing I did - go in the bathroom and take off the layers. :) It was 42 degrees at 7 pm. Sigh. I can handle this.

After a quiet night of visiting and hanging out, I went to bed and slept wonderfully. The next morning, I went visiting to my Aunt and Uncle in nearby Maryland. I got to see all my cousins, with one exception.

Monday morning I was back on the road again, headed south. By the evening, I was in Anderson, SC. Warm, no SNOW, hell, they are even getting ready to start mowing the grass down here!!!!

Hanging out with the Mom and Dad (I adopted them when I was a teenager) and their menagerie. They have 5 dogs, 3 house cats, 2 horses, 4 goats, 1 barn cat. I truly do feel right to home.

Mom is sick, so we have been laying low, but did manage to get to one store this afternoon. Bought 9 dress shirts and 2 pairs of pajamas for $35 at the thrift store. Got a few small things for my girls, also.

The weather is supposed to be in the low to mid 60's all week. I have been outside most of the day, in my t-shirt and pants and my crocks. It got a little windy tonight, so around 8 pm I put my sweat shirt on. Torture, I assure you.

My cold is almost completely gone. My asthma is hardly bothering me. I'm sleeping through the night with no coughing fits. I think I've gone to heaven....

No worries, though. Unfortunately, my clock will chime midnight and the coach will turn back into a pumpkin and I'll have to wind my way north. My plans are to stop in Maryland overnight on Saturday and finish the torturous trip back north on Monday. Sigh. I'm so gonna have to make plans to come south for two months next year. I can't believe how good I feel in the middle of winter down here in the warm weather.

I did give my husband notice. As soon as our youngest is out of school in 3 1/2 years, I'm south for the winter. With or without him. But my horses are coming with me.....

Just heard the weather forecast - 52 degrees tomorrow morning at 7 am. Don't know how much more of this I can handle. I might have to just stay to find out... no, no, I promised hubby I would be home on Sunday. Sigh. So wish warm weather weren't so far to travel.

I'm thinking of you all up north and will sit with my coffee in the morning, on the porch, and think of you all. Don't worry. It will be worse when I go home. You all won't think anything of another day of snow and cold. It will truly be torture for me after having the luxury of warmth and sunshine and grass growing....

How many more days until spring????
